How to Assemble your Skateboard Quick and Easy

How to Assemble your Skateboard Quick and Easy

skate

This is a guide on how you assemble your skateboard quick and easy

What do you need

You will need a knife and a t-tool (10mm for truck bolts, 13mm for wheelbars, 15mm for kingpin, star screwdriver and an Allen wrench)

Griptape

Start off by removing the paper from your grip tape (so it will stick on one side). Then place the adhesive side of your grip tape downwards and gently put it on top of the deck. For best results, place your grip tape centered on the deck.

Make a small cut in every corner of your griptape. Then create some lines for where your griptape is to be cut by scratching the edges of the deck with a tool. Then cut off the griptape along the lines.

To achieve durable edges on your deck, sand the edges all the way around with the excess griptape pieces you cut off earlier.

Trucks

Now gaps must be made for the bolts so that your trucks can be fitted. Punch the hole all the way through the eight holes in the deck. Use a tool that is sharpest (eg thin umbrella key). Then you create some larger holes from the other side of the deck with a star screwdriver.

Now mount your trucks. Put the bolts into the eight holes you just made and then put your trucks on. Screw the nuts on the bolts – tighten them with a 10mm key.

Wheels

Install two ball bearings in each of your wheels. Place a single ball bearing at a time in the wheel – use your hands to press down on the wheel so that the ball bearing fits inside the wheel.

Fit the wheels. Place them on your truck and tighten the nuts with a 13mm key. Be careful not to tighten them too much as you can damage your bearings.
